How to Merge PDF Files for Free (No Software)
Sending five separate PDF files is annoying for the person who receives them. One clean document is easier to read, print and file. Merging is also one of the quickest PDF jobs, if you do it in the right order.
Before you merge
- Check that none of the files is password protected. Protected files cannot be combined until the password is removed.
- Rename the files with numbers (01, 02, 03) so they are easy to keep in order.
- Decide whether you need every page. Extra cover pages and blank pages are easier to remove first.
Merge PDFs step by step
- Open the Merge PDF tool.
- Drop all your files onto the page, or choose them from your device.
- Use the up and down arrows to put them in the right order.
- Press Merge PDFs and download the combined file.
The merge happens in your browser. Your files are not uploaded anywhere, which matters for contracts, invoices and ID documents.
After merging
If the result has pages in the wrong place, open it in Organize PDF. You can move, rotate and delete pages visually. If the final file is too large for email, run it through Compress PDF.
Common problems
- Pages look different sizes. This is normal when files come from different sources. The pages keep their own size.
- The merge fails. The file may be damaged. Try the Repair PDF tool first.
- The file is huge. Scans and photos make big PDFs. Compress after merging, not before.
