Split, Extract or Remove PDF Pages: Which One to Use
Splitting, extracting and removing pages sound alike, but each solves a different problem.
Which one do I need?
- Split PDF cuts one document into several files, for example one file per chapter.
- Extract PDF Pages makes one new file from the pages you choose, for example pages 4 to 7.
- Remove PDF Pages deletes pages you do not want and keeps everything else.
Typing page ranges
Separate pages with commas and use a dash for ranges. 1-3, 5, 8- means pages 1 to 3, page 5 and page 8 to the end. In Split PDF every comma separated part becomes its own file.
Need a different order?
These tools keep pages in document order. To reorder or rotate pages use Organize PDF, where you see all pages as thumbnails.
Good habits
- Keep the original file until you have checked the new one.
- Remove pages before compressing so you do not process pages you will throw away.
